Welcoming Academic Visitors

The Institute of Geography at the University of Edinburgh welcomes visits from academic colleagues. Please send the following items as far in advance as possible of your proposed visit, to

  1. A copy of your CV
  2. A note of support from a member of academic staff in the Institute of Geography, the University of Edinburgh
  3. A summary of your intended programme of work, including dates of your proposed visit.

In order to arrange a note of support from member of academic staff in the Institute of Geography, you should consult our website to find out more about people's research interests and then approach relevant people by email. We very much welcome academic visitors to the Institute but our resources are limited and so we need to ensure that priority is given to visits that offer the greatest mutual benefit to those involved. This is why we ask prospective visitors to establish a link with an existing member of staff who then provides a note of support.

Please note that the most we can offer is shared office accommodation and access to other university resources. You will need to bring your own lap-top computer and you will need to arrange your own residential accommodation.

A variety of schemes exist to support visits from overseas colleagues, including those listed below.
