Research Interests: I work on carbon capture and storage (CCS) as a method to control anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide and mitigate climate change. My research focuses on three main areas: policy development to enable and accelerate the deployment of CCS as a climate mitigation measure, the potential for CCS principals and technologies to be used to manage fossil fuel resources in a more sustainable manner, and understanding the role and implications of large amounts of CO2 or carbon storage on the climate system. More broadly, I am interested in the interactions between society, the carbon cycle and climate change, and the inter-generational responsibilities and feedbacks these generate. Working actively in policy development, I strongly feel that improving understanding and interaction between the research, political and public communities is hugely important to addressing climate change and other challenges of the modern world.
