The Cryosphere Programme aims to understand the principle processes controlling how glaciers and ice sheets and to investigate how they inter-link with other parts of the global system. We study contemporary systems and past ice sheets using a variety of field study, remote sensing and modelling techniques. We have projects based in Greenland, Antarctica, Patagonia, Iceland, FennoScandanavia, and the Alps.

Projects
  • Surface melt in Greenland
  • Eskers and Subglacial Meltwater
  • Quaternary Patagonian Glaciations
  • Icelandic Glacial Systems
  • Glacial Erosion and Landscape development
  • Deformable Tills
  • East Antarctic Stability
  • Glacial-interglacial Cycles in FennoScandanavia
  • Ice Sheet Modelling
  • Shackleton Range Project & Antarctic Diary
